Instructions

Bunting Flag: Outline and flood the entire surface of the cookie. While the icing is still wet, pipe lines that follow the arch of the cookie, evenly spaced with navy, red and light blue flood icing consecutively. Immediately use the scribe tool and pull it through the icing, fanning around the arch of the cookie to create a bunting effect. Be sure to wipe the scribe after every pull to keep the colors clean.

USA Banner Cookie: Outline the entire cookie with white flood royal icing. Allow the icing to dry for 5 minutes to form a base layer. Flood the entire cookie with white flood icing, using a scribe tool to smooth out the surface evenly. Let the icing dry for 30 minutes to set. Pipe a string of icing horizontally near the top of the cookie. Let dry for 5 minutes. Outline and flood the individual flags in light blue, royal blue and red. Use a scribe tool to shape and smooth the icing. Leave the icing to dry. When the icing has set up, pipe the letters U S A on the flags with white flood icing. Use a small dot of icing to glue the royal icing flowers in the upper corners of the banner.

Swim Shorts: Outline the entire cookie in royal blue flood icing. Allow the icing to dry for 5 minutes to form a base layer. Flood the entire cookie with royal blue flood icing, using a scribe tool to smooth out the surface evenly. While the icing is still wet, pick an area on the shorts and pipe nesting circles in light blue, red and white flood royal icing. Use a scribe to pull through the icing, starting in the center of the circle and pulling outward. Do this all around the nested circles to form an explosive firework. With the royal blue flood icing, outline a waistband onto the shorts. Finish the waistline with a piped bow for a tied drawstring.

Swimsuit Cookie: Outline the top of the suit to just above the waistline in red flood royal icing. Section the top of the swimsuit with a line dividing 2/3rds of the swimsuit top following the natural curvature of the cookie.
Leave an empty space between the top and bottom of the swimsuit.
Outline the swimsuit bottom in light blue royal icing. Allow the icings to dry for 5 minutes. Flood the swimsuit bottom in light blue royal icing. Use a scribe tool to smooth and shape the icing. While the icing is still wet, pipe horizontal lines in royal blue flood icing, spacing them evenly apart. Use the end of the scribe to pull the icing down through the stripes, spacing evenly across the suit. Clean the tip of the scribe before and after each pull. Then, repeat, pulling the icing upward through the stripes all the way across. Allow the icing to dry for 5 minutes.
Outline and flood the empty space between the top and bottom of the swimsuit in white flood royal icing. Use a scribe tool to smooth and shape the icing.
Flood the remaining section of the swimsuit top in red flood icing. Smooth icing with a scribe. Leave cookies to dry completely.
Red White and Blue Swimsuit Cookie
Snow Cone Cookie: Outline the whole snow cone cookie in white flood royal icing. Then outline the snow cone sections, dividing the cone and the 3 shaved ice flavors. Use a wet on wet technique where you fill one section right after the other. Flood the first section of ice shavings in red flood icing, smooth with scribe, then the middle section with the white flood icing, smooth with scribe and repeat the 3rd section of ice shavings in blue flood icing and smooth with scribe. While the icing is still wet, gently sprinkle the icing with white coarse sugar crystals. Allow the icing to crust before moving on.
Flood the entire section of the paper cone white royal icing. Smooth and shape icing with a scribe tool. Allow the icing to crust over. When the icing is set, outline the cone in white flood icing and a line where the cone wraps around itself. Leave the cookie to dry completely.

United States Cookie: Outline the entire cookie with white flood royal icing. Allow the icing to dry for 5 minutes to form a base layer. Flood the entire cookie with white flood icing, using a scribe tool to smooth out the surface evenly. While the icing is still wet, carefully place the silver edible glitter stars strategically in the icing with angled tweezers. Let the cookie dry for 30 minutes to set. Freehand the work “home” with royal blue food icing onto the cookie. Use the scribe to smooth the icing.
