Caramels Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 15-oz. can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

In a heavy saucepan, melt butter. Stir in sugar and salt, then add corn syrup. Mix well. Add sweetened condensed milk, stirring constantly. Continue stirring and cook to 248°. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour into parchment lined 8-inch square pan. Let set for half a day. Cut into squares and wrap in confectionary waxed paper or plastic wrap.
