Mix a little bit of blue fondant with some white fondant to get the sky color. Roll fondant to desired thickness. Brush 8" round cake with piping gel and cover with fondant. Using a bread knife, cut the 8" square cake to look like a base to a snowglobe; being to cut the top so the round cake nestles into it. Roll brown fondant to desired thickness. Roll wood grain texture mat over fondant. Brush cake with piping gel and cover with textured fondant. Brush a small amount of piping gel on the top of the brown covered cake and the bottom of the round and nestle them together.
Using a thick piece of white fondant, mold a snowdrift with your hands. Attach to cake with piping gel. Use a ball tool to make smaller drifts in the fondant. Roll a thick piece of rolled fondant and cut a snowman and cut his hat off with the poly blade then attach to cake with piping gel. Roll a thick piece of light blue fondant and cut a snowman but cut his hat away from his head attach it to the white fondant snowman using piping gel. Cut thin strips to make a scarf. Roll small pieces of black fondant for eyes, mouth and buttons. Roll a small piece of orange fondant for his carrot nose.
Melt candy coating and pour into snowflake mold. Place in freezer til set. Roll light blue fondant thin and cut the different sizes of snowflakes with the plunger cutters. Brush snowflakes with pearl dust. Dot piping gel randomly on cake and at the top of the snow drift then sprinkle non-pareils over gel.
