Basic Pie Crust Recipe

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter flavor Crisco
  • 4-5 Tablespoons ice water
Chill all crust ingredients and bowl for 1 hour prior to blending of crust. Place flour and 1/2 Crisco in a bowl. Use a pastry blender to incorporate Crisco into flour. When pea sized flour balls form, add the rest of the Crisco and keep incorporating into the flour until it gets fine and granular. Start adding the water a little at a time. Push dough together until you can shape the dough into a flat ball with your hands. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator until ready to roll out bake.
