Ingredients and Supplies
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • egg whites
Whip butter until soft. Add 2/3 cup flour, sugar, egg yolks and vanilla. Beat until thoroughly combined. Beat in another 3/4 cup flour. Cover and chill one hour. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in egg whites, then in sliced almonds or pecan pieces. Press centers with your thumb. Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes or till edges are lightly browned. Cool. Just before serving, fill centers with desired pastry filling.
