Valentine Breakable Heart DIY

Red Chocolate Geometric Heart
You can place all kinds of fun items under this heart-shaped chocolate. Surprise your Valentine with fun trinkets once they break the mold. Some people fill them with more chocolates, toys, money, and more.

Ingredients

  • Red Chocolate Melts
  • White Chocolate Melts
  • Paramount Crystals
  • White Shimmer Nonpareils
  • Hot Pink Oil Based Food Color
  • Red Oil Based Food Color
  • White fondant
  • Pink Champagne Luster Dust

Instructions

Place the red chocolate candy melts into a microwave-safe bowl. Melt the chocolate using 20 second intervals, stirring in between to ensure the chocolate melts evenly and doesn’t scorch. Continue melting until the chocolate is fluid. White and colored candy coatings are often thick, so once melted, add 1 tablespoon paramount crystals. If the paramount crystals don’t melt after being stirred in, place the bowl back in the microwave for 15-20 seconds. We added some pink and red oil based colors to deepen the color.
The bottom piece of the mold has a marked fill line to prevent under or overfilling the mold. Fill the mold to this line with the melted chocolate. Gently tap the mold on the counter to settle the chocolate and add more chocolate if needed.
Gently press the center piece of the mold into place and then the top piece.
Press the mold pieces together to evenly distribute the chocolate.
Place the mold into the refrigerator to set up for 20-30 minutes.
Get the drizzle chocolate ready by placing white candy coating in a tipless bag. Set aside to be melted later. Also have your sprinkles ready to go.
Once the coating has set, remove the top piece of the mold. Then, carefully and gradually remove the center piece. Turn the mold upside down and gently tap and squeeze the mold to release the chocolate. Break off any excess chocolate pieces.
Now that the heart is ready to decorate, melt the white chocolate drizzle and have your sprinkles ready to go.
Cut a small hole in the tipless bag and test the flow out on parchment. Pipe a continuous circle pattern all over the heart and immediately sprinkle with white non-pareil sprinkles.
Create the banner by kneading some fondant until smooth and then dust a silicone mat with powdered sugar and roll out the fondant until desired thickness is achieved. Use a pastry wheel to trim the fondant into a rectangle. Use a paring knife to cut a “V” at each end to form the banner. Add a message to the banner using the snap together letter embossers. Gently transfer the fondant banner to the heart. Finish the heart by adding a paint splatter to the banner. Mix a luster dust, we used pink champagne, and a clear grain alcohol such as everclear or lemon oil to make a paint. Splatter this paint over the banner with paint brush and your heart is finished.
