If you want a special color coating or chocolate, you can add this Candy Coloring because it is oil based. Cake colorings are water based and may ruin your candy. If you are trying to make a color darker, start with candy coating closest to the color you want to achieve. Then add enough candy coloring to darken or change the color. Sometimes, adding coloring will thicken the candy. Melt a bit of Paramount Crystals with the coating to thin. Warning: too much coloring will give the candy a bitter taste and will stain the mouth and lips! Rather than get the very dark colors such as navy blue, we recommend just using white coating, and not using navy blue, or just paint the details in the dark color and use a lighter color in the majority of the mold.
