Peppermint Candy Cake
Ingredients and Supplies
  • 3 - 8" x 2" round white cakes
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon or 15 drops of peppermint oil
  • peppermint crunch or peppermint powder or chips
  • buttercream icing
Prick two cake layers at 1-inch intervals with a fork. Melt butter. Stir in remaining ingredients except for peppermint crunch. Bring to a boil and boil 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Place one pricked layer of cake on serving plate. Spread with 1/2 of the sauce mixture and sprinkle with 1/2 cup of the crunch/powder or chips. Repeat procedure with second pricked layer, using the remainder of the sauce mixture and 1/2 cup of the crunch. Place the remaining layer on the second layer and ice cake with buttercream icing. Sprinkle with the peppermint crunch or make a design with a cookie cutter on top of the cake then sprinkle crunch around the bottom of the cake.
