ASSEMBLY AND SET UP Satellite Cake Stands are one of the easiest to work with. We have three types of satellite cake stands available: plastic, acrylic and Styrofoam. Each cake stands on it's own. Because they are individual, cakes may be arranged in many different ways. Except for the base plate, each cake sits on a top plate with a post and a base plate (plates are used for both base and top plate). We recommend using 8" plates for the bases of all except 14" plates. For posts over 15", do not use larger than an 8" top plate. For posts over 20", do not use larger than a 6" top plate. Prepare the Cakes: Place base tier on a sturdy base plate 4" larger than the cake, of at least 4 thickness of cardboard , masonite, cake drum (covered with our decorative foil and with Bush studs glued on), Super Strong Plastic Cake Stand, or deluxe white Formica stand. Place remaining cakes on on cardboards, cake plates or masonite, 2" larger than the cake (cover cardboards with our decorative foil) or, use our beautiful Cake Drums, 2" larger than each cake. Ice and decorate each cake. Final Assembly: Place rods in the base plates and attach top plate (top plate may be same size as cardboard, masonite or drum cake is sitting on and it's edge may be seen or top plate may be same size as cake with the cardboard, masonite or cake drum 2" bigger and top plate will not be seen. Arrange cakes. If using Styrofoam, may use satin cloth to cover the Styrofoam. Note: We also carry some stands that have a fixed base, needing only rods and top plates.
