Rectangle pans are often called sheet cake pans. The most common sheet cake sizes are as follows: 9" x 13" (quarter sheet), 11" x 15" (third sheet), 12" x 18" (half sheet) and 16" or 18" x 24" (full sheet). When selecting a pan consider the finish, whether the corners are perfectly square and the height of the pan to determine what will best fit your needs. Sheet cakes are often served in single layers and are popular for birthday and graduation cakes. Sheet cakes also work well for being cut apart and pieced together to create new shapes.
