1.Roll gum paste thin and cut with flower cutter. With an x-acto knife make a deep cut between each petal and shorter cuts in the petals.
2.With frilling tool frill the edge.
3.Gum glue the center of the flower and fold in half then in half again. Dip a 26g wire that as a hook on the end into gum glue. Push the wire from the top through the bottom center of the flower. Attach the flower and hung upside down for just a little while.
4.This can be a completed carnation or continue on to make it a bigger flower.
5.Cut out another petal and do the same thing as step #1and #2. Gum glue the center and fold in half then wrap it around the base of the first row of petals. Hang upside down for a little while to dry.

7.Cut #3 petal and frill like step #1 and #2. Gum glue the center and slide it up the wire to the flower and attach to the base. Let dry.

2.Roll the points thin.
3.Gum glue the base of the flower and wrap the calyx around it.
1. With a powder food color or luster dust dry brush the color on the tips of all the petals.
