Ingredients and Supplies
Chocolate cake made from Surprise Inside Pan
Two 12" cardboards
Black foil
Chocolate buttercream icing
8" pointed spatula
red, orange and yellow food coloring
Buttercream icing
30 pretzel rods
Bug mold #90-11106
Large spoon
1 3/4 cups boiling water
1- 6 oz. pkg. lime gelatin
2 teaspoons grated lime peel
1/4 cup lime juice
2 cups vanilla icecream, softened
1/2 cup water
1-3oz. pkg. flavored gelatin (any flavor or color)
2 T. unflavored Grayslake gelatin

Place one cake (hollow side up) on black foil-covered cardboard. Fill with part of the filling, (recipe below). Place second layer on top of filled layer, hollow side up. Place cake in freezer just long enough to slightly harden edge of cake. Remove from freezer and carve cake into a bowl shape, cutting away much of the lower cake. Ice cake with chocolate icing and carefully ice the open area top. Fill open area with filling. Place a large spoon into the cauldron. Place in refrigerator. Make gummy-like creatures (recipe below) and place on cake. Tint yellow, orange and red buttercream icing for the fire. With pointed spatula, sculpt fire by dabbing icing at bottom and drawing tip of spatula upward. Push large pretzel rods into base of "pot". FILLING: Pour 1 3/4 cups boiling water into lime gelatin and stir at least two minutes until dissolved. Stir in lime peel and juice. Stir in ice cream until melted and smooth. Refrigerate 15 to 20 minutes or until mixture is very thick and will mound. Spoon into hollow area on top cake. GUMMY-LIKE CREATURES: In a small saucepan, stir together the 3-oz pkg. flavored gelatin , unflavored gelatin and 1/2 cup water. Heat until dissolves. Pour into clean dry molds. Place in freezer at least 5 minutes. When firm, gently pull creatures from molds.
