Prepare shapes for dipping by placing candy-coated sticks into the bottoms of your shapes. Place in refrigerator to set chocolate. It is very important to place stick half-way through the shape; failure to do so may result in the shape falling off the stick. Hold shape over the bowl full of candy coating and spoon coating over the shape. Allow excess coating to fall; be careful not to tap the shapesbecause tapping could loosen the hold of the stick. Place shape into holder and let dry. Use candies or melted chocolate to add details to your flowers and butterflies.
Ladybug - Form cake mixture into the shape of a ladybug. This is not an exact process; it is dependent on your interpretation of each piece. Once you have your shapes made, place them back in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to firm. Prepare for dipping by inserting coating covered stick into the bottom of your shape. Let set. Once set, hold shape over the bowl full of red candy coating and spoon coating over the shape. Allow excess coating to fall; be careful not to tap the shapes because tapping could loosen the hold of the stick. Place shape in to holder and let dry completely. Dip the small part of the bug into the bowl of black coating to get the head; allow excess coating to fall. Immediately attach candy eyes. Once coating has dried, use small parchment bag with of black coating to add bug details. Use small parchment bag of red to add a mouth.
Caterpillar - Form cake mixture into the shape of a caterpillar. This is not an exact process; it is dependent on your interpretation of each piece. You will need to make the middle of the body thicker to hold the stick. Squeeze the mixture in to your hand to help make the caterpillar’s body. Once you have your shapes made, place them back in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to firm. Prepare for dipping by inserting coating covered stick into the bottom of your shape. Let set. Once set, hold shape over the bowl full of green candy coating and spoon coating over the shape. Allow excess coating to fall; be careful not to tap the shapes because tapping could loosen the hold of the stick. Immediately attach green jimmies for the antennae and the candy eyes. Place shape in to holder and let dry completely. Use small parchment of black coating to draw the mouth.
Bumblebee - Form cake mixture into the shape of a bee. This is not an exact process; it is dependent on your interpretation of each piece. Once you have your shapes made, place them back in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to firm. Prepare for dipping by inserting coating covered stick into the bottom of your shape. Let set. Dip pop into melted yellow candy coating. Place in holder and let dry completely. Dip the small part of the bee into the bowl of black coating to get the head; allow excess coating to fall. Immediately attach candy eyes and chocolate jimmies for the antennae. Use small bag of red coating to draw the mouth. Mold wings out of a small heart candy mold. Cut off the bottom of the heart at a half-moon shape to attach to the body of the bee with melted coating. Hold heart until coating has completely set.
Mushroom - Form cake mixture in two pieces; one for the stem and the other for the top. Once you have your shapes made, place them back in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to firm. Prepare for dipping by inserting coating covered stick into the bottom of your shape. You will need to leave ½" of stick out of the top of the stem for the top of the mushroom. Let set. Dip the stem and into the bowl of melted white coating. Allow excess coating to fall. Place cap of mushroom on top of stem onto the wet coated stick. Place in frig to dry. Once set, dip cap of mushroom into melted red coating. Allow excess coating to fall; be careful not to tap the shapes because tapping could loosen the hold of the stick. Once completely dry, use small parchment of white coating to add dots.
